How do you set up a registered charity?

I help to run a flower and vegetable show in a village, the money currently goes into another charity memorial fund.

the problem is though when we then donate our raised funds to say a school the cheque is then not in our name and it looks like the money is not from us

How do you set up a registered charity?
You would need a constitution with charitable objects. Running a produce show is not charitable in English charity law, however, so you could not register as a charity.

If you choose to donate your profits to be given through another fund, you could specify that the charitable fund states where the original funds came from. Why can't you donate directly to the school or whatever?

Example charitable objects (eg to relieve poverty, etc) are on the Charity Commission website.
