I would like to plant a few more flowers so they will show up more often.
What is the best flower plant that attracts hummingbirds. i have a butterfly bush.?
Here's some I grow each year just to attract hummingbirds:
Salvia-they love the red salvia.
Scented Stock
Snapdragons
Fuschia- this is great for hanging baskets and the hummingbirds love them.
Asarina-these are big belled shape flowers that you can get in pink or red and the hummingbirds will flock to them.
Columbine-the native variety are red and the flowers dangle under the stem. I have these growing everywhere in my yard ....very easy to grow and I always see my first hummingbird around the columbine.
Here are a couple websites that are very helpful:

Reply:A cardinal vine (aka cardinal climber) gets tons of hummers at my place. They like red flowers.
Reply:There are so many plants that hummers feed at that you have many choices. Your question indicates you don't have them around much, so attracting them to your property would be a first concern.
Hummers are very attracted to the color red, so for your first plantings I'd suggest a red, trumpet shaped blossom. Once they know you have a food source for them, they'll be hanging around year round and feasting on the less showy colors.
You might try using a red feeder to attract them initially (and to help them survive when the blossoms are gone), but please don't use any food coloring. Sugar and water is fine...the red from the feeder will attract them. (If you use a feeder, PLEASE clean it regularly!)
Here is a good list of plants. Check which ones are compatible with your growing zones.

We live in the bay area in Calfiornia and have hummers all year 'round. Today they feasting on plum, cherry and orange blossoms and even the lavendar. If you have safe, low-growing dense shrubbery they may also nest with you!
In addition, provide a water source for them, preferably one that 'falls' such as a fountain or a 'trickle.' I see them drinking from our little pond fountain. When I hand water our garden, they frequently hover at the end of the spray to bathe and drink. (Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.)
Reply:get a package of seeds they are called wild flowers they atract hummingbirds and you will ave a mixture of beatyful flowers in your garden.
Reply:I grow monarda ( bee balm) it is real easy to grow and attracts many butterfys and hummingbirds hope this helps.
