Could you show current trends in flower and plant buying?

The best way that I know to tell the current trends is to check out the catalogs to see which plants are on the cover or on the first few pages. Another way is to check out the local gardening centers and ASK questions. Look at landscaping, EVERYBODY'S landscaping. I would think that the trends would be affected by where you live and local watering ordinances etc.

I am not sure why you ask...perhaps you are growing a few plants to sell and in that case it would make absolute sense to watch the market trends, however if you are planning your garden and landscaping...be wild...be different! I find it curious to see landscaping that is...say...very purple, such as Nandina and King Crimson maple, and then to notice that the neighbors landscaping leans toward the same color schemes.

In my part of Pennsylvania, the trends for the last few years have leaned toward heirloom varieties (The plants and flowers in our grandmother's gardens) that have been bred to modern traits such as longer bloom seasons, brighter or many more color choices, improved hardiness and disease resistance, and vigor, much more vigor, and not to forget, breeding out weediness or aggressive growth habits.
